Fostering Requirements & Guidelines
As a foster for the Pet Compassion Centers (PCC), you will be responsible for providing standard care for kittens and adult cats.
General Requirements:
- You must not have kittens/ adult cats from other rescues when the PCC animals are in your care.
- You must be able to keep litters separated from each other and from your own cats.
- You must practice strict sanitation and hygiene, including washing hands when moving between litters and using the available veterinary disinfectant.
- You must be willing to weigh kittens every 3 days and track their weights to monitor progress.
- You must be prepared to follow treatment guidelines for common conditions such as conjunctivitis, diarrhea, ear mites, fleas, ringworm, tapeworms, URI, and vomiting.
- You must contact your foster lead immediately if a cat exhibits serious symptoms such as lethargy, is not eating/drinking for 12 hours, has specific eye abnormalities (like a hazy cornea or ulcer), or has concerning vomiting/diarrhea.
- You must be willing to participate in socialization of the kitten/cat.
